Home Based Business Franchise

Owning a small business provides many opportunities to those who seek the independence and unlimited income potential associated with this type of endeavor. When going through the decision process of which kind of small business to start, one of the best opportunities available is a home based business franchise. A franchise is a turnkey operation that will have certain guidelines and a system in place to help you succeed. These types of businesses will also provide you with important aspects such as training, support and consultation along with a steady set of tactics to use in order to operate and market the business. A franchise is one of the better types of small businesses to start because of these factors.

With a home based business franchise you can start a business in a variety of fields. One of the top fields for this type of franchise is a cleaning business. A cleaning business is a type of endeavor where the owner operates a business that specializes in professional cleaning services. With this type of business, the owner travels from one job to the next cleaning different structures such as office buildings and houses. They can also hire employees once they grow the business and have more revenue. This can be a lucrative business because it provides a good income potential and low startup costs.

Another home based business franchise that is among the best is a travel agency. A travel agency is a business that provides travel packages and recommendations to consumers. When someone decides to go on a vacation, the travel agency can give them the best deals such as low priced hotels, flights and give out brochures or online recommendations on what activities to do while on the trip. This too can be one of the more lucrative business opportunities due to low or moderate startup costs and high demand because there are so many people who enjoy traveling on a regular basis.

Service businesses such as accounting, bookkeeping, tax preparation and advertising are also among the best home based businesses to start. These businesses provide flexibility, high demand and very good income potential. Whenever you are looking to start a home based business it is always a good idea to start a franchise. These businesses give you just about every opportunity to succeed and place you in a better position to reach your potential to enjoy a profitable and successful business with a more rewarding lifestyle than you may currently have.

Best of Both Worlds – Why Not a Home Based Business?

It’s every salaried man and woman’s dream and probably more than a few self employed people who work from an office too. The benefits of running your own business, being your own boss, keeping your own hours and all this from the comfort of your own home. It just sounds too good to be true. Well, the reality of running a home based business isn’t always that rosy. As a matter a fact it can be a right royal pain in the behind at best or fail miserably at worst.Working from home is not exactly a new or unique concept. In the past most business was done from a shop or small factory or workshop that was part of the family home. In many parts of the world today it is still the norm. The practice of living and working in the same place does make a lot of sense and holds many benefits. It is great not having to pay rent on a building, living 30 seconds from work, not having to sit for hours in traffic and being able to get up and have a sandwich and a cup of coffee whenever you feel like it. Nirvana indeed. There are several pitfalls in this idyllic wonderland though, pitfalls that are generally only discovered when one starts working from home. The exponential increase in self discipline that is required, constant distractions and the stigma that often surrounds the “one man band” or home based business are just a few of the problems that one has to contend with. You need to be dedicated, driven and passionate about what you do to work from home. A simple desire to stop working “for the man” is just not going to cut it.To make a success of a home based business you have to be a far stricter boss than “the man” ever was. You need to set a rigid and uncompromising work schedule for yourself and adhere to it religiously. You also need to set yourself up in a place in your home where you will not be bombarded with distractions all day (and more likely all night). It just doesn’t work sitting and trying to be productive while little Johnny beats the stuffing out of his brother or his drum set in the room next door. Family members need to buy into this process unconditionally as well. Work times have to be off limits to all but 3 alarm fires or the discovery of a winning lottery ticket. One of the problems often encountered by work-at-homers is the misconception that a small business is small time. The absence of a penthouse suite is deemed to be a sign of mediocrity and lack of success. This is a problem that can be alleviated only by making a name for yourself and building trust among your clients. You can cure cancer but there just are no pills for a snob. The good news is that not only is a successful home based business possible, but it can be the most rewarding thing you will ever do. It is cheap, convenient, flexible and rewarding. If you can exercise the required amount of discipline and fulfil the basic business needs of supply and demand then it can and does work. Good luck!

If you are serious about making money without having to go to a job everyday, you can start to build your own home-based business today and break-free from the shackles of having a boss, having no free time, and having to be somewhere when you would rather be at home with your friends and family. When you are someone else’s employee, you have a boss to tell you exactly what to do and when to do it, but if you want to be your own boss, you will have to have the ability to initiate your work and stick to it everyday so that you can get things done. Business is like raising a child, you have to nurture it daily and only then will it slowly grow into something that will be fully functional on its own.#4 – Time factorsStarting and building a business takes plenty of time, both at the beginning and at the latter stages of your business. In order to get it off the ground, you should expect to take hundreds of hours of time, so if you are starting it as a part-time project, expect it to take a year or so before you start to see any substantial income. On the other hand, should you be doing this full-time, you may only need a couple months before you see any returns.#5 – You have to enjoy your businessNo matter what your goals may be, you won’t be able to stick with something long-term if you don’t enjoy what you do, so be sure to pick something that you enjoy and can see yourself doing for the rest of your working life.

People join legitimate home based businesses every day. They lead you to believe that the fancy cars, that huge house and the beautiful girl in the ad will all be yours when you join and pay your sign up fee. After a few weeks in your new business, you realize it’s not as easy as you thought it would be. Then soon you lose interest and give up, swearing to never get involved in another opportunity again. Is the comp plan a 2 Up, a 3 Up, a Binary, a Matrix? How much do you give up to your up line or your sponsor before you start making money? This is very important information to know! The people behind the company can also affect your success. Research the background of the CEO, the President, and the founders of the company before making your decision. If the company focuses on how much money the top .5% of the people is making, you may also want to stay away. Research how much the average person is making, (if anything at all). But remember, you can’t always place the entire blame on the company you’re involved with. To be successful in one of the legitimate home based businesses you have to treat it like a business. If you treat it like a hobby you are destined to fail. You can’t be afraid of it, you have to believe in it, and be ready to endorse it, and embrace it 100% of the time. You need to have a certain attitude to succeed in any business. You have to stand up and take charge of your life. Be sure you are promoting the right product, from a legitimate company, with creditable leaders that promote a lucrative compensation plan that you can have success with.

It seems like there are people from every road in life thinking about starting a home based business. The Market is Excited, But Challenges Still Loom For Small Businesses

There is a disconnect between the market rally indicating the economy may soon recover and small businesses who continue to face a challenging environment. First, you must keep the market rally in historical perspective and you must interpret the market’s rally. The market rally has caused some excitement due to being one of the strongest market rallies in history. However the 50% rise between March and July 2009 should be compared to other historical benchmarks. According to Barron’s Market Week (August 3, 2009), in July 1997 the S&P ended at 954 and the S&P ended July 2009 at 987. The return during a 12 year period was only 3% (total return, almost no return on an annualized basis). Additionally, the July 2009 S&P level is well below the October 2007 all time high of around 1,580 (over 37% lower according to Yahoo! Finance). The current market rally is indicating that for large and publicly traded companies times are beginning to stabilize. Perhaps not improving, but less bad news is good news in the current environment. Smaller businesses, however, face more challenging times ahead. The financial lending institutions need to flow monies form Wall Street to Main Street. The credit markets are thawing and larger companies can once again qualify for loans. Qualifying for loans will allow the larger companies to calm their cash flow nerves. However, small businesses are facing increased scrutiny when applying for and renewing loans. Even with a high credit score and a large portion of collateral small business owners are having loans not being accepted or renewed. If the loan is not renewed the small business may not be able to raise equity and to take advantage of their local market conditions. Then loans are not renewed, small business owners are forced into repayment. A lot of small businesses and small business owners do not have the assets to repay the called loans. The cash outflow to repay the loan (if available) can potentially lead to a financial hardship for the small business by crushing liquidity, working capital needs and accelerate the cash burn rate. All of which make it more difficult to qualify for a loan from other lenders. These obstacles place more pressure on small businesses (even in a recovery). In additional small businesses will be forced into tougher lending standards which could potentially increase the number of small business failures at the same time the economy recovers for larger companies. Understanding this situation is important for small business owner because they can (immediately) begin to review their operations and focus attention on their financial position in order to take steps to strengthen their overall position before they request a loan or apply for a loan renewal from a financial institution.Second, financial lending institutions currently are trying to figure out the new lending standards. The new standards are tougher than small business owners want them to be. Small businesses enjoyed the NINJA times (No Income No Job or Assets – no problem). Now small businesses feel they are being hassled at the time of the renewal since they have to provide accurate financial information and they understand the renewal is no longer guaranteed. The small business’s “hassle” is the increase of time involved and higher financing costs, including hiring a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to issue financial statements and attend loan workout meetings. Financial lending institutions, however, have been faced with higher loan failures and are currently finding out the personal guarantees they had signed by the small business owners are semi-worthless. The small business owner protected themselves by transferring all of there assets to their spouse who did not sign the personal guarantee. This leaves the bank with a bad loan and a worthless personal guarantee. Banks may have both spouses sign the personal guarantee in the future for more protection. A troubling sign is a lot of small businesses and owners are not well capitalized (i.e. they do not have many assets, but do have debts and a good life style). As larger companies have built assets over time and made drastic cost cuts and lay offs of the work forces smaller companies have minimal assets and minimal liquidity and did not cut costs and work forces as quickly or dramatically as larger businesses.Wall Street and the U.S. Government are lending to and bailing out Wall Street Companies, but Wall Street and the U.S. Government is not lending to or bailing out Main Street Companies. As larger companies are beginning to receive financing from financial institutions and bail out monies form the U.S. Government; small business lenders, such as CIT, have received little or no attention from Uncle Sam. CIT is one of the more important lending institutions for small businesses (The CIT Threat By Donna Childs). Small business lenders and regions banks seem to be hurting the most out of all of the financial institutions at the moment. In order for these institutions to lend monies to small businesses in the future they will have to increase their lending standards. For Main Street companies to qualify for loans in the future small businesses need to make major adjustments to their business model including building assets and overall strengthening the financial position of the business and owner (just as their larger counterparts have done).Third, the economy is still in recession and growth will not be the glory days of the past. David Rosenberg, chief economist at Gluskin Sheff, stated “What matters is the contour of the recovery” (The Best Five-Month Run Since 1938 By Kopin Tan and Andrew Bary) meaning that the economy still has a long way to improve. The markets might have “improved” 50% between March and July 2009, however the business environment has not improved or not improved that considerably. Continued pressure on the economic recovery and growth over the next several years includes unemployment around 10% and increasing, the US savings rate has increased over the past 12 months, corporate America continues to de-leverage and the U.S. Government is too involved in private markets.Unemployment of 10% and rising as well as an increase in the US savings rate places pressure on consumer spending due to uncertainty of future employment and income. Consumer spending at the local level directly affects small business performance. A reduction of consumer spending pressures the survival of small businesses. According to “The Recession is Over Now What We Need Is A New Kind Of Recovery” by Daniel Gross (Newsweek August 3, 2009) 5 million jobs are anticipated to be created by 2011, however the economy has lost 6.5 million jobs since December 2007. Consumer spending due to uncertain employment over the next several years can financially pressure local small businesses. As corporate America continues to de-leverage itself it repays debt instead of making purchases and instead of increasing its workforce. The reduction of purchases does trickle down to small businesses and less procurement can affect small business revenues. The U.S. Government involvement in large corporations should be more troubling than the news reports. Our pride as a market based economy and being a Democracy has been turned into the U.S. being Socialist without any major opposition. Yes, we are Socialists since the government owns private enterprise. As taxpayers complain that the government cannot do anything right or efficient at least. Now we are using more of taxpayer resources for Wall Street companies and not Main Street companies will have significant effect on Main Street’s future. Mr. Gross states it costs the U.S. government $92,000 in government spending or $145,000 in government tax breaks to create one job. The average job in the U.S. pays less 1/3 to ½ than this amount. The jobs created will first affect larger businesses, with hope that it will trickle down to small business. At least Main Street will still have its pride (even if it is forced into bankruptcy). Small businesses must be aware of this environment and understand the recovery has many challenges over the next several years to come.In conclusion, small businesses have several challenges in the years ahead. Immediate action is necessary to continue to evolve their business model and strengthen their financial position. Business owners should expect to sacrifice more and potentially raise equity (diluting their ownership) in order to survive the rest of the recession and to try to stay alive through the recovery. Small businesses should continue to stay vigilant during the potential economic recovery in order to continue operations.

Think ROI When Budgeting Your Healthcare Marketing Dollars

As a marketing manager or CFO of a healthcare organization, it is your responsibility to determine the most economic use of your healthcare marketing dollars. With an overwhelming set of tactical options and media choices, developing a strategy is a critical first step before spending a single penny of your media budget. In short, you need to have a road map that outlines your marketing goals before you set out to invest. The planning process should be a formal and thorough part of any marketing campaign. As the old adage aptly states, ‘Failure to plan is planning to fail.’ An old marketing joke quips that 50% of any marketing campaign is a waste of money. The difficulty is knowing which 50%. In short, it takes years of marketing experience to understand the best paths to market any product, service or organization. Not knowing your market or starting a campaign with unclear goals often results in costly inefficiencies and a waste of time and money. This article is geared to help you get it right the first time by outlining the importance of proper planning when budgeting your healthcare marketing dollars.

How to Achieve ROI in Healthcare Marketing

ROI often gets lost in the clamor of a product rollout, or the launch of a new service or brand. Thanks to increasing media fragmentation, healthcare marketing decision makers have a myriad of choices when it comes to channeling healthcare marketing dollars. This can be overwhelming for even seasoned marketing pros. Unless you have unlimited dollars and a marketing team of thousands of staff members, it is simply not possible to target everyone. It’s easy to leap onto the latest trend, whether it is social media, video, or the hottest fad in internet marketing. But, without proper planning, you’re doing little more than blindly spending money and hoping for results. Proper research and planning helps us understand how to invest to get the best bang for our marketing buck.

The first stage of planning should define the target audience and build consensus with regard to tactics and strategy. A free exchange of ideas is crucial to the process. Brainstorming sessions among professionals coupled with real demographics and metrics will ultimately lead to an informed decision about who exactly you are trying to reach with your healthcare marketing budget. Don’t try to reach everyone. Pick 3-5 key target markets that represent your core revenue streams or promising new markets. All marketing and media opportunities should target these core markets. Don’t allow yourself to be distracted by deals and discounts. It’s not a deal if it doesn’t reach your core target markets.

Defining Your Target Audience

Customer Base

The first and most obvious step is to look at your customer base and pick out significant common threads among them. What are they buying from you and why? Similar companies and firms could benefit from the same services. Additionally, it’s wise to consider possible upsell opportunities to current clients. It’s always easier to sell to existing customer than to find new ones. Take care of your customers and they will return time and again.

Look Closely at the Competition

Study your top competitors and determine who they are targeting. Whether you decide to compete head to head or discover new niche markets that warrant further study, it’s always wise to know and understand your competitors. To underestimate your competition is to miss an opportunity to learn from those that share your goals.

Try to understand target market basics like demographics that include location, income, and gender and psychographics such as behavior, personality, and values. The more you are able to target your audience carefully in the early planning stages, the greater the success you will achieve. Other resources include Pew Internet which outlines internet use among a variety of demographics as well as Scarborough which is a press room full of marketing and other trends that are useful for healthcare marketing professionals.

However all the planning in the world is useless without the means to measure success. With multiple strategies and tactics making up any coherent marketing plan, determining predefined metrics of what constitutes success is the only way to truly understand what works. Defining these metrics is not an easy task. Many abstract and difficult questions beg to be answered. How do you measure awareness? What is the time frame for effectiveness? Will I wait a year before seeing the results of my efforts? Defining your target audience is the key to successfully answering these questions. Knowing the habits of your target audience, knowing which publications they read, knowing where they congregate on social media, and then monitoring these channels is the key to taking the pulse of your audience.

A Word about Metrics & ROI

No manager or CEO wants to get buried in the details of the thousands of potential measurements possible when rolling out a multi-faceted marketing strategy. Without putting some measure or weight on the statistics, you risk becoming a collector of thousands of useless data points. Most prefer to see a big picture snapshot of your marketing efforts or “Macro Metrics.” The easiest definition of a good macro metric is usefulness. Everything from web site content, social media strategies, and brand rollouts should address the question of “is it useful? ” The next question is “who is it useful for?” If your marketing is not useful to your target audience, it’s time to start over. The most important measure after planning and audience targeting becomes ROI.

In summation key points here for healthcare marketing professionals include undertaking a formal and thorough planning process prior to reaching out with creative product and resources. Principal to planning includes defining your target audience and the metrics that play to your strengths as a company. The types of analysis you focus on will be different depending on the strengths and focus individual to your firm. Most importantly is to know where you are positioned today, where you wish to go tomorrow, and the strategies, tools and tactics that will take you there.

How Can CPC Advertising Help Your Business?

Cost Per Click (CPC) advertising is one type of online advertising available today. With the growing popularity of the Internet, Cost Per Click advertising is a great way for you to put your business name is in front of millions of people. There are several online advertising businesses, and Google AdSense is the most popular.

CPC is a keyword-based advertising system. This means your advertisement is connected to searches containing the same keywords that you have chosen as your advertising keywords. You are charged a certain amount, usually anywhere from 5 cents to $5.00 every time someone clicks on your advertisement.

Even though your advertisement may be shown many times, you are only charged for the number of times visitors actually click on your advertisement for more information. If your Cost Per Click advertisement is text-based, it will be placed in an advertising unit with between one and three other advertisements.

Before you start your Cost Per Click advertising campaign, you must place a maximum CPC bid. This bid will indicate the highest amount you are willing to pay for the CPC advertising. You must take into consideration that you will be expected to pay more for the more popular keywords and for advertisement placement in locations with higher visibility.

Even though you set your own maximum CPC bid, your actual advertising cost will usually be one cent above the minimum charge required to keep your advertisement placement in its current Web page location.

Google uses your quality score and rank number to determine your CPC charge and advertisement placement. Your quality score is determined by how closely related your selected keywords are to the actual advertisement wording.

The score also considers the quality of your landing page and your click through rate. Your landing page is the Web page your visitors are directed to once they click on your advertisement, and your click through rate is the percentage of viewers that click on your ad out of the total number of viewers that see your advertisement.

Your advertisement’s placement is determined by its rank number. A higher rank number indicates a higher quality advertisement and this will place your advertisement in the more desirable advertising locations. The higher your quality score is, the lower your Cost Per Click advertising costs will be and the better your advertisement location will be.

Cost Per Click advertising allows you to set and control your advertising budget. You are able to set a daily budget for your CPC charges. Each day, if the number of click throughs reaches your set maximum daily budget, the ads will stop appearing until the next day.

You can increase or decrease your daily maximum CPC charges as needed, and you will never be surprised at how much your are charged for your Charge Per Click advertising. Keep in mind that if your advertisement does not generate a minimum amount of daily click throughs, your ad will be discontinued.

The Finer Points of Internet Auctions

WHAT IS A PENNY AUCTION?

Penny auctions have exploded in popularity with the massive growth of the internet. However, few people know the true origins of penny auctions.Beginnings actually stretch back to the Great Depression. Those were hard times for everyone, but even harder for farmers. Farmers struggled to bring in steady income because of droughts and crops not selling as well as they had previously. As a result, the banks would foreclose on the farmers who couldn’t keep up with their mortgage payments.

The banks weren’t satisfied with just repossessing the house, they wanted to raise as much capital as possible, so they resorted to selling off the possessions of the owners of the repossessed houses. There was not much the farmers could do about it so they began bidding ridiculously low prices, pennies, on the items while threatening others who dared to bid higher than a few pennies.

The auctions of today hardly resemble their tremulous beginnings. Being part of a penny auction today is exhilarating, fun, and addictive. It combines the selling format of auctioning with a little bit of chance factored in.Auctions are a game of strategy but also a game of luck.

The premise behind penny auctions is giving people the chance to win an item at a drastically reduced price.Auctions make that possible by spreading out the cost of the product among multiple bidders. In order for a person to take part in an auction, they must pay a set price for each bid. For example, if a person wanted to bid on a fifty dollar Amazon gift card then he would spend a dollar for each time a bid placed. If he ended up winning the gift card, then he would only have spent a few dollars for a fifty dollar gift card. Usually penny auctions sell bids in packages.

HOW PENNY AUCTIONS WORK!

The main foundation of penny auctions is the pay-per-bid format. It is the key that allows bidders to win items at the fraction of their retail value and allows the auction owners to keep their site profitable. Most y auction sites run on the same premise: people pay a set amount for each bid, whenever a person places a bid within the closing seconds of the auction time will be added, the last person left with a unique bid after the clocks runs out will win the item. There are a large variety of items that can be won, but they tend to be popular electronics or gift cards to popular stores.

There are two types of auctions: lowest unique bid auction and highest unique bid auction. Lowest unique auction sounds confusing but it is actually quite simple. A unique bid is when only one person has a bid at a certain price. Bids usually start at one penny, a bidder can then place a bid at two pennies. Until another bidder places a higher bid, the most recent bidder will be the lowest unique bid because that was the only bid at two cents and nobody bid higher. However, penny auctions generally don’t stop at one penny. It is not uncommon to find auctions that end up at a couple hundred dollars based on the popularity of the item being auctioned. However, the same principles apply for those auctions. Highest unique bid auctions follow the more traditional auction format such as eBay. The person with the highest bid at the end of the auction wins the item.

Auction site owners turn a profit by selling bids. Say twenty people are bidding on a ten dollar gift card at one dollar per bid, at the end of the auction if there were twenty bids placed in total then the site owner would have made twenty dollars with a ten dollar profit.Auctions do seem like a win-win situation:The site owner makes money while the bidder gets an item for dirt cheap. However, not everyone wins in penny auctions. The people who paid one dollar each bid but left with nothing to show for their investments will not be so happy.

HOW TO WIN!

Penny auction has a lot of chance mixed into it, but one can incorporate strategy that will help raise the chances of winning. Playing smart can make all the difference between gambling and auctioning.

The first crucial tip to winning penny auctions is to know how to manage your bids. Your goal should be to win as much as possible without spending a ton of money buying bids. Managing your bids means that you should already know how much you are willing to risk in order to win an item. The amount of capital you are willing to risk will determine how many bids you can use. Once you know how many bids you have to spend on an item, then you will be better able to manage how and when you place a bid. That will keep you from blowing away all of your bids in the first few seconds of the auction.

The next tip is to practice time management. When fighting in the trenches of penny auctions, you have two enemies: other bidders and time. Knowing when to bid is a must if you want to have success. Placing a bid when there is a lot of time left on the clock is never a good idea. You have to remember that the key to winning a penny auction is being the last one standing when the clock runs out and that each bid increases the amount of time left. It would be a good practice to wait until the last few minutes of the auction before you begin to bid.

The final tip for successful auctioning is to keep your emotions under control.Auctions have a lot of similarities to gambling, and just like gambling, your spending can get out of control. If you keep your emotions level, it will keep you from making rash decisions and blowing loads of cash. Keep your mind clear so that you can gage the behavior of the other bidders and outsmart them.

HOW TO AVOID SCAM SITES!

Penny auctions are a great addition to the web whether you want to win an item that otherwise you wouldn’t be able to afford or if you simply enjoy the thrill that comes with bidding in auctions. Unfortunately, scam sites have tarnished the reputation of the legitimate penny auction sites. However, there are ways that you can protect yourself from scamers and enjoy your auctioning without having to worry about losing your money due to dishonesty.

Checking the reputation of the auction site before you start spending your hard earned money is always a good idea. Chances are other people have tried the site before you and some of them have left reviews. The reviews are your way to gage whether a auction site is trustworthy or not. If a site is getting overwhelmingly negative reviews, then that is a clear indication that you should steer your business elsewhere.

Another tool you can use to protect yourself is checking the Alexia ranks of the auction sites. Alexia rank will give a solid view of how much traffic the auction is getting. If you see a huge difference in the amount of traffic Alexia is projecting and the amount of active bidders on the site, then warning signals should be ringing in your head. Some auction sites have been known to set up robots that automatically bid on projects in order to keep the auction going and inflate the price. That is known as shill bidding. You can sniff out those sites by comparing the traffic the site should be getting to the amount of users using this site.

CONCLUSION!

New legislation may come out later down the road that will officially make penny auctions gambling, but until then, it is a fun, exciting auction that allows one to win the item they’ve always wanted but couldn’t afford.Auctions are also quite lucrative for the site owners because of the pay-per-bid strategy they’ve incorporated. Penny auctions had humble beginnings with farmers who just wanted to get back at the banks who kicked them out of their house. More recently, auctions have enjoyed an explosion in popularity with the rise of the internet.

There are two main formats fora auctions, lowest and highest unique auction, however they both run on the same premise where the last unique bid wins the item. Winning a penny auction will require a certain amount of mental tactic and a bit of luck. However, you can increase your odds of winning by practicing certain techniques such as managing your bids wisely, learning how to work with the time, and keeping a level head and your emotions under control. When you combine those three strategies to your bidding plan, you will find that you win a lot more often.

It is important that you do your due diligence to protect yourself when participating in auctions. Not every auction is run by honest and trustworthy people. There are people out there who just want to take your money. You can protect yourself by ensuring that you only bid on sites that already have a very positive reputation from real users.
